* बहुरि बिलोकि बिदेह सन कहहु काह अति भीर।
पूँछत जानि अजान जिमि ब्यापेउ कोपु सरीर॥269॥
Then, casting his eyes around, Parshuram ji turned to King Janak and asked, like one unaware (though he knew everything within), “What is this great gathering for?” His entire being was consumed with fury.
फिर सब देखकर, जानते हुए भी अनजान की तरह जनकजी से पूछते हैं कि कहो, यह बड़ी भारी भीड़ कैसी है? उनके शरीर में क्रोध छा गया॥269॥
* समाचार कहि जनक सुनाए। जेहि कारन महीप सब आए॥
सुनत बचन फिरि अनत निहारे। देखे चापखंड महि डारे॥1॥
King Janak then explained everything, recounting the reason behind the grand assembly of kings. As he spoke, Parashuram ji turned to look in the other direction, and there, he saw the shattered pieces of the bow lying on the ground.
जिस कारण सब राजा आए थे, राजा जनक ने वे सब समाचार कह सुनाए। जनक के वचन सुनकर परशुरामजी ने फिरकर दूसरी ओर देखा तो धनुष के टुकड़े पृथ्वी पर पड़े हुए दिखाई दिए॥1॥
अति रिस बोले बचन कठोरा। कहु जड़ जनक धनुष कै तोरा॥
बेगि देखाउ मूढ़ न त आजू। उलटउँ महि जहँ लहि तव राजू॥2॥
Overwhelmed with fury, Parshuram ji spoke in a thunderous voice, “O’ Foolish Janak! Tell me, who dared to break the bow? Show me that person at once, or else, you fool, I will turn the Earth upside down, from here to the farthest reach of your Kingdom!”
अत्यन्त क्रोध में भरकर वे कठोर वचन बोले- रे मूर्ख जनक! बता, धनुष किसने तोड़ा? उसे शीघ्र दिखा, नहीं तो अरे मूढ़! आज मैं जहाँ तक तेरा राज्य है, वहाँ तक की पृथ्वी उलट दूँगा॥2॥
अति डरु उतरु देत नृपु नाहीं। कुटिल भूप हरषे मन माहीं॥
सुर मुनि नाग नगर नर नारी। सोचहिं सकल त्रास उर भारी॥3॥
King Janak remained silent, gripped by fear. The wicked kings, however, felt secretly pleased in their hearts. Meanwhile, the Demigods, Sages, Serpents, and the men and women of the city were all overcome with unease, every heart was filled with dread.
राजा को अत्यन्त डर लगा, जिसके कारण वे उत्तर नहीं देते। यह देखकर कुटिल राजा मन में बड़े प्रसन्न हुए। देवता, मुनि, नाग और नगर के स्त्री-पुरुष सभी सोच करने लगे, सबके हृदय में बड़ा भय है॥3॥
मन पछिताति सीय महतारी। बिधि अब सँवरी बात बिगारी॥
भृगुपति कर सुभाउ सुनि सीता। अरध निमेष कलप सम बीता॥4॥
Sita ji’s mother grieved silently in her heart, thinking, “The Almighty has ruined all that was going well.” For Sita ji, each moment felt like an eternity as she listened to the fierce words of Parashuram ji.
सीताजी की माता मन में पछता रही हैं कि हाय! विधाता ने अब बनी-बनाई बात बिगाड़ दी। परशुरामजी का स्वभाव सुनकर सीताजी को आधा क्षण भी कल्प के समान बीतते लगा॥4॥
* सभय बिलोके लोग सब जानि जानकी भीरु।
हृदयँ न हरषु बिषादु कछु बोले श्रीरघुबीरु॥270॥
Seeing the fear in everyone’s eyes and knowing the anguish in Sita ji’s heart, Shri Raghuveer, gently spoke. His heart held neither pride nor sorrow, only calm composure as He addressed the moment.
तब श्री रामचन्द्रजी सब लोगों को भयभीत देखकर और सीताजी को डरी हुई जानकर बोले- उनके हृदय में न कुछ हर्ष था न विषाद-॥270॥
