तव बस बिधि प्रचंड सब नाथा। सभय दिसिप नित नावहिं माथा॥
अब तव सिर भुज जंबुक खाहीं। राम बिमुख यह अनुचित नाहीं॥6॥
…O’ Lord, the mighty creation of Lord Brahma lay under your command, and the Guardians of all ten directions trembled before you, bowing their heads in fear each day, yet now your severed heads and arms are being devoured by jackals, and yet this fate is not unfitting for one who stood in hostility toward Shri Ram.
हे नाथ! विधाता की सारी सृष्टि तुम्हारे वश में थी। लोकपाल सदा भयभीत होकर तुमको मस्तक नवाते थे, किन्तु हाय! अब तुम्हारे सिर और भुजाओं को गीदड़ खा रहे हैं। राम विमुख के लिए ऐसा होना अनुचित भी नहीं है (अर्थात् उचित ही है)॥6॥
काल बिबस पति कहा न माना। अग जग नाथु मनुज करि जाना॥7॥
…O’ Beloved husband, doomed by your own fate, you listened to no one and regarded the Lord of all creation, both animate and inanimate, as nothing more than a mere human…
हे पति! काल के पूर्ण वश में होने से तुमने (किसी का) कहना नहीं माना और चराचर के नाथ परमात्मा को मनुष्य करके जाना॥7॥
छंद :
* जान्यो मनुज करि दनुज कानन दहन पावक हरि स्वयं।
जेहि नमत सिव ब्रह्मादि सुर पिय भजेहु नहिं करुनामयं॥
आजन्म ते परद्रोह रत पापौघमय तव तनु अयं।
तुम्हहू दियो निज धाम राम नमामि ब्रह्म निरामयं॥
…You mistook Lord Hari Himself for a mere human, though He is the blazing fire destined to consume the forest of the demon race. To Him bow Lord Shiv, Lord Brahma, and all the Demigods, yet, O’ Beloved husband, you never worshipped that boundless ocean of mercy, Shri Ram. From the very beginning, your body was engaged in harming others and committing sinful deeds, and yet the Supreme Lord, beyond all material qualities, has granted you His own divine abode. To that very Lord, I bow in reverence…
दैत्य रूपी वन को जलाने के लिए अग्निस्वरूप साक्षात् श्री हरि को तुमने मनुष्य करके जाना। शिव और ब्रह्मा आदि देवता जिनको नमस्कार करते हैं, उन करुणामय भगवान् को हे प्रियतम! तुमने नहीं भजा। तुम्हारा यह शरीर जन्म से ही दूसरों से द्रोह करने में तत्पर तथा पाप समूहमय रहा! इतने पर भी जिन निर्विकार ब्रह्म श्री रामजी ने तुमको अपना धाम दिया, उनको मैं नमस्कार करती हूँ।
* अहह नाथ रघुनाथ सम कृपासिंधु नहिं आन।
जोगि बृंद दुर्लभ गति तोहि दीन्हि भगवान॥104॥
…Ah my lord, there is none as compassionate as Shri Raghunath, who has granted you a state that even the most realized Sages find difficult to attain.”
अहह! नाथ! श्री रघुनाथजी के समान कृपा का समुद्र दूसरा कोई नहीं है, जिन भगवान् ने तुमको वह गति दी, जो योगि समाज को भी दुर्लभ है॥104॥
* मंदोदरी बचन सुनि काना। सुर मुनि सिद्ध सबन्हि सुख माना॥
अज महेस नारद सनकादी। जे मुनिबर परमारथबादी॥1॥

मंदोदरी के वचन कानों में सुनकर देवता, मुनि और सिद्ध सभी ने सुख माना। ब्रह्मा, महादेव, नारद और सनकादि तथा और भी जो परमार्थवादी (परमात्मा के तत्त्व को जानने और कहने वाले) श्रेष्ठ मुनि थे॥1॥
भरि लोचन रघुपतिहि निहारी। प्रेम मगन सब भए सुखारी॥
रुदन करत देखीं सब नारी। गयउ बिभीषनु मनु दुख भारी॥2॥
…were overwhelmed with emotion as they gazed upon Shri Raghupati and felt greatly fulfilled. Meanwhile, seeing the women mourning in anguish, Vibhishan’s heart was filled with intense sorrow. He went to them,…
वे सभी श्री रघुनाथजी को नेत्र भरकर निरखकर प्रेममग्न हो गए और अत्यंत सुखी हुए। अपने घर की सब स्त्रियों को रोती हुई देखकर विभीषणजी के मन में बड़ा भारी दुःख हुआ और वे उनके पास गए॥2॥
बंधु दसा बिलोकि दुख कीन्हा। तब प्रभु अनुजहि आयसु दीन्हा॥
लछिमन तेहि बहु बिधि समुझायो। बहुरि बिभीषन प्रभु पहिं आयो॥3॥
…and on beholding the condition of his brother, Vibhishan too was overcome with grief. Then the Lord instructed His younger brother, Lakshman ji, who comforted and consoled Vibhishan in many ways, after which Vibhishan returned to the Lord.
उन्होंने भाई की दशा देखकर दुःख किया। तब प्रभु श्री रामजी ने छोटे भाई को आज्ञा दी (कि जाकर विभीषण को धैर्य बँधाओ)। लक्ष्मणजी ने उन्हें बहुत प्रकार से समझाया। तब विभीषण प्रभु के पास लौट आए॥3॥
कृपादृष्टि प्रभु ताहि बिलोका। करहु क्रिया परिहरि सब सोका॥
कीन्हि क्रिया प्रभु आयसु मानी। बिधिवत देस काल जियँ जानी॥4॥
The Lord cast His gracious glance upon Vibhishan and said, “Now perform all the last rites of Ravan and lay aside all sorrow.” Obeying Shri Ram’s command, Vibhishan carried out the final rites with due reverence, in accordance with the prescribed rituals, the proper time, and the appropriate place.
प्रभु ने उनको कृपापूर्ण दृष्टि से देखा (और कहा-) सब शोक त्यागकर रावण की अंत्येष्टि क्रिया करो। प्रभु की आज्ञा मानकर और हृदय में देश और काल का विचार करके विभीषणजी ने विधिपूर्वक सब क्रिया की॥4॥
* मंदोदरी आदि सब देह तिलांजलि ताहि।
भवन गईं रघुपति गुन गन बरनत मन माहि॥105॥
After offering handfuls of water and sesame seeds for the peace of the departed soul, Mandodari and the other Queens returned to the palace, each reflecting silently in her heart on the many virtues of Shri Raghupati.
मंदोदरी आदि सब स्त्रियाँ उसे (रावण को) तिलांजलि देकर मन में श्री रघुनाथजी के गुण समूहों का वर्णन करती हुई महल को गईं॥105॥
* आइ बिभीषन पुनि सिरु नायो। कृपासिंधु तब अनुज बोलायो॥
तुम्ह कपीस अंगद नल नीला। जामवंत मारुति नयसीला॥1॥
"सब मिलि जाहु बिभीषन साथा। सारेहु तिलक कहेउ रघुनाथा॥
पिता बचन मैं नगर न आवउँ। आपु सरिस कपि अनुज पठावउँ॥2॥
Vibhishan then returned to Shri Ram and bowed once more. The ocean of mercy, Lord Ram, summoned His younger brother, Shri Lakshman, and said, “You, along with the King of monkeys Sugriv, Nal, Neel, Jambvant, and the son of the Wind God, Hanuman, are all wise and well versed in political wisdom and righteous conduct. Go together with Vibhishan and perform his coronation. By my father’s command, I am forbidden to enter any city during my fourteen years of exile, therefore I am sending my younger brother and the monkeys, who are in every way as capable as I am.”
भावार्थ:-सब क्रिया-कर्म करने के बाद विभीषण ने आकर पुनः सिर नवाया। तब कृपा के समुद्र श्री रामजी ने छोटे भाई लक्ष्मणजी को बुलाया। श्री रघुनाथजी ने कहा कि तुम, वानरराज सुग्रीव, अंगद, नल, नील जाम्बवान् और मारुति सब नीतिनिपुण लोग मिलकर विभीषण के साथ जाओ और उन्हें राजतिलक कर दो। पिताजी के वचनों के कारण मैं नगर में नहीं आ सकता। पर अपने ही समान वानर और छोटे भाई को भेजता हूँ॥1-2॥
तुरत चले कपि सुनि प्रभु बचना। कीन्ही जाइ तिलक की रचना॥
सादर सिंहासन बैठारी। तिलक सारि अस्तुति अनुसारी॥3॥
Hearing the Lord’s command, the monkeys at once went to Lanka and made all the arrangements for the coronation. With due reverence, they seated Vibhishan upon the royal throne, applied the sacred mark of kingship upon his forehead, and honoured him according to the prescribed rites and traditions.
प्रभु के वचन सुनकर वानर तुरंत चले और उन्होंने जाकर राजतिलक की सारी व्यवस्था की। आदर के साथ विभीषण को सिंहासन पर बैठाकर राजतिलक किया और स्तुति की॥3॥
जोरि पानि सबहीं सिर नाए। सहित बिभीषन प्रभु पहिं आए॥
तब रघुबीर बोलि कपि लीन्हे। कहि प्रिय बचन सुखी सब कीन्हे॥4॥
Everyone joined their palms and bowed their heads before him. Then, accompanied by Vibhishan, they returned to Lord Ram. Shri Raghuveer then summoned all the monkeys and, speaking gentle and pleasing words, gladdened the hearts of all.
सभी ने हाथ जोड़कर उनको सिर नवाए। तदनन्तर विभीषणजी सहित सब प्रभु के पास आए। तब श्री रघुवीर ने वानरों को बुला लिया और प्रिय वचन कहकर सबको सुखी किया॥4॥
छंद- :
* किए सुखी कहि बानी सुधा सम बल तुम्हारें रिपु हयो।
पायो बिभीषन राज तिहुँ पुर जसु तुम्हारो नित नयो॥
मोहि सहित सुभ कीरति तुम्हारी परम प्रीति जो गाइहैं।
संसार सिंधु अपार पार प्रयास बिनु नर पाइहैं॥
The Lord gratified everyone with His nectar-like words, “By your might, such a formidable enemy was slain and Vibhishan received the Kingdom of Lanka. Your glory shall remain ever fresh throughout all the three spheres of the Cosmos. Those who sing your blessed glory along with mine will easily cross the unfathomable ocean of worldly existence.”
भगवान् ने अमृत के समान यह वाणी कहकर सबको सुखी किया कि तुम्हारे ही बल से यह प्रबल शत्रु मारा गया और विभीषण ने राज्य पाया। इसके कारण तुम्हारा यश तीनों लोकों में नित्य नया बना रहेगा। जो लोग मेरे सहित तुम्हारी शुभ कीर्ति को परम प्रेम के साथ गाएँगे, वे बिना ही परिश्रम इस अपार संसार का पार पा जाएँगे।
प्रभु के बचन श्रवन सुनि नहिं अघाहिं कपि पुंज।
बार बार सिर नावहिं गहहिं सकल पद कंज॥106॥
Listening to the Lord’s words, the groups of monkeys could never be fully satiated; their hearts longed to hear them again and again. Repeatedly, they bowed their heads and clasped His lotus feet in deep devotion.
प्रभु के वचन कानों से सुनकर वानर समूह तृप्त नहीं होते। वे सब बार-बार सिर नवाते हैं और चरणकमलों को पकड़ते हैं॥106॥
* पुनि प्रभु बोलि लियउ हनुमाना। लंका जाहु कहेउ भगवाना॥
समाचार जानकिहि सुनावहु। तासु कुसल लै तुम्ह चलि आवहु॥1॥
Then the Almighty Lord called Hanuman ji and instructed him, “Go to Lanka, convey the good news to Janaki, and return with word of Her well-being.”
फिर प्रभु ने हनुमान्जी को बुला लिया। भगवान् ने कहा- तुम लंका जाओ। जानकी को सब समाचार सुनाओ और उसका कुशल समाचार लेकर तुम चले आओ॥1॥
तब हनुमंत नगर महुँ आए। सुनि निसिचरीं निसाचर धाए॥
बहु प्रकार तिन्ह पूजा कीन्ही। जनकसुता देखाइ पुनि दीन्ही॥2॥
Then Hanuman entered the city, and hearing this, the demons and demonesses rushed forward. They honoured and worshipped him in many ways. After that, they brought Janaki ji, the daughter of King Janak, and showed Her to him.
तब हनुमान्जी नगर में आए। यह सुनकर राक्षस-राक्षसी (उनके सत्कार के लिए) दौड़े। उन्होंने बहुत प्रकार से हनुमान्जी की पूजा की और फिर श्री जानकीजी को दिखला दिया॥2॥
दूरिहि ते प्रनाम कपि कीन्हा। रघुपति दूत जानकीं चीन्हा॥
कहहु तात प्रभु कृपानिकेता। कुसल अनुज कपि सेन समेता॥3॥
Hanuman ji bowed to Sita ji from a respectful distance, and She recognized him as Shri Raghupati’s messenger. She said, “Tell me, my son, is my gracious Lord well, along with His younger brother and the monkey army?”
हनुमान्जी ने (सीताजी को) दूर से ही प्रणाम किया। जानकीजी ने पहचान लिया कि यह वही श्री रघुनाथजी का दूत है (और पूछा-) हे तात! कहो, कृपा के धाम मेरे प्रभु छोटे भाई और वानरों की सेना सहित कुशल से तो हैं?॥3॥
सब बिधि कुसल कोसलाधीसा। मातु समर जीत्यो दससीसा॥
अबिचल राजु बिभीषन पायो। सुनि कपि बचन हरष उर छायो॥4॥
Hanuman ji replied, “The Lord of Koshal is well in every way. Mother, the Lord has defeated the ten-headed Ravan in battle, and Vibhishan has attained lasting sovereignty over Lanka.” Hearing these words, Sita ji’s heart overflowed with joy.
(हनुमान्जी ने कहा-) हे माता! कोसलपति श्री रामजी सब प्रकार से सकुशल हैं। उन्होंने संग्राम में दस सिर वाले रावण को जीत लिया है और विभीषण ने अचल राज्य प्राप्त किया है। हनुमान्जी के वचन सुनकर सीताजी के हृदय में हर्ष छा गया॥4॥
छंद- :
* अति हरष मन तन पुलक लोचन सजल कह पुनि पुनि रमा।
का देउँ तोहि त्रैलोक महुँ कपि किमपि नहिं बानी समा॥
सुनु मातु मैं पायो अखिल जग राजु आजु न संसयं।
रन जीति रिपुदल बंधु जुत पस्यामि राममनामयं॥
Goddess Sita was filled with joy; a thrill passed through Her body, and tears of happiness welled up in Her eyes. Again and again She said, “What can I possibly give you from the three worlds, O’ Hanuman? I find nothing more precious or equal in worth to the words you have spoken.” Hanuman ji replied, “Listen, O’ Mother, today I have gained the sovereignty of the entire Universe, for I behold Shri Ram and His brother Lakshman ji safe and victorious after the defeat of the enemy on the battlefield.”
श्री जानकीजी के हृदय में अत्यंत हर्ष हुआ। उनका शरीर पुलकित हो गया और नेत्रों में (आनंदाश्रुओं का) जल छा गया। वे बार-बार कहती हैं- हे हनुमान्! मैं तुझे क्या दूँ? इस वाणी (समाचार) के समान तीनों लोकों में और कुछ भी नहीं है! (हनुमान्जी ने कहा-) हे माता! सुनिए, मैंने आज निःसंदेह सारे जगत् का राज्य पा लिया, जो मैं रण में शत्रु को जीतकर भाई सहित निर्विकार श्री रामजी को देख रहा हूँ।
सुनु सुत सदगुन सकल तव हृदयँ बसहुँ हनुमंत।
सानुकूल कोसलपति रहहुँ समेत अनंत॥107॥
Sita ji said, “Listen, dear son Hanuman, may all noble virtues abide in your heart, and may the Lord of Koshal, Shri Ram, along with His brother Anant (Shri Lakshman), always bestow His grace upon you…
(जानकीजी ने कहा-) हे पुत्र! सुन, समस्त सद्गुण तेरे हृदय में बसें और हे हनुमान्! शेष (लक्ष्मणजी) सहित कोसलपति प्रभु सदा तुझ पर प्रसन्न रहें॥107॥
अब सोइ जतन करहु तुम्ह ताता। देखौं नयन स्याम मृदु गाता॥
तब हनुमान राम पहिं जाई। जनकसुता कै कुसल सुनाई॥1॥
…Son, now find a way for me to behold with my own eyes the gentle, dark-hued form of my Lord.” Hanuman ji then went to Shri Ram and conveyed to Him the well-being of Janaki ji, King Janak’s daughter.
हे तात! अब तुम वही उपाय करो, जिससे मैं इन नेत्रों से प्रभु के कोमल श्याम शरीर के दर्शन करूँ। तब श्री रामचंद्रजी के पास जाकर हनुमान्जी ने जानकीजी का कुशल समाचार सुनाया॥1॥
सुनि संदेसु भानुकुलभूषन। बोलि लिए जुबराज बिभीषन॥
मारुतसुत के संग सिधावहु। सादर जनकसुतहि लै आवहु॥2॥
On hearing Sita ji’s message, Shri Ram, the crown jewel of the Solar race, summoned Prince Angad and Vibhishan and instructed them, “Go with the son of the Wind God, Hanuman and respectfully bring Janak ji’s daughter, Sita here.”
सूर्य कुलभूषण श्री रामजी ने संदेश सुनकर युवराज अंगद और विभीषण को बुला लिया (और कहा-) पवनपुत्र हनुमान् के साथ जाओ और जानकी को आदर के साथ ले आओ॥2॥
तुरतहिं सकल गए जहँ सीता। सेवहिं सब निसिचरीं बिनीता॥
बेगि बिभीषन तिन्हहि सिखायो। तिन्ह बहु बिधि मज्जन करवायो॥3॥
Everyone immediately proceeded to where Sita ji was. At Vibhishan’s instruction, the demonesses who respectfully attended Her made all the necessary arrangements for Her departure and bathed Sita ji with due reverence in various ceremonial ways.
वे सब तुरंत ही वहाँ गए, जहाँ सीताजी थीं। सब की सब राक्षसियाँ नम्रतापूर्वक उनकी सेवा कर रही थीं। विभीषणजी ने शीघ्र ही उन लोगों को समझा दिया। उन्होंने बहुत प्रकार से सीताजी को स्नान कराया,॥3॥
बहु प्रकार भूषन पहिराए। सिबिका रुचिर साजि पुनि ल्याए॥
ता पर हरषि चढ़ी बैदेही। सुमिरि राम सुखधाम सनेही॥4॥
They then adorned Sita ji with ornaments of every kind and brought a beautifully decorated, graceful palanquin (carriage). Sita ji joyfully mounted it, holding Her beloved Shri Ram, the abode of bliss, deeply within Her heart.
बहुत प्रकार के गहने पहनाए और फिर वे एक सुंदर पालकी सजाकर ले आए। सीताजी प्रसन्न होकर सुख के धाम प्रियतम श्री रामजी का स्मरण करके उस पर हर्ष के साथ चढ़ीं॥4॥
बेतपानि रच्छक चहु पासा। चले सकल मन परम हुलासा॥
देखन भालु कीस सब आए। रच्छक कोपि निवारन धाए॥5॥
Guards marched on all four sides with staffs in hand, their hearts filled with joy. The monkeys and bears rushed eagerly to catch a glimpse of Sita ji, but the guards hurried forward and firmly held them back.
चारों ओर हाथों में छड़ी लिए रक्षक चले। सबके मनों में परम उल्लास (उमंग) है। रीछ-वानर सब दर्शन करने के लिए आए, तब रक्षक क्रोध करके उनको रोकने दौड़े॥5॥
कह रघुबीर कहा मम मानहु। सीतहि सखा पयादें आनहु॥
देखहुँ कपि जननी की नाईं। बिहसि कहा रघुनाथ गोसाईं॥6॥
Seeing this, Shri Raghuveer said to Vibhishan, “Listen, my friend, follow my counsel and bring Sita on foot.” The Lord of the senses, Shri Raghunath, smiled and added, “Let the monkeys behold Her as they would their own mother.”
श्री रघुवीर ने कहा- हे मित्र! मेरा कहना मानो और सीता को पैदल ले आओ, जिससे वानर उसको माता की तरह देखें। गोसाईं श्री रामजी ने हँसकर ऐसा कहा॥6॥
सुनि प्रभु बचन भालु कपि हरषे। नभ ते सुरन्ह सुमन बहु बरषे॥
सीता प्रथम अनल महुँ राखी। प्रगट कीन्हि चह अंतर साखी॥7॥
Hearing the Lord’s words, the monkeys and bears rejoiced, while the Demigods showered flowers from the sky. The true Sita ji, (a mystery known only to Lord Ram, Sita ji, and the Fire God), had been safeguarded with the fire deity, and now the Lord, the inner witness of all, chose to restore the real Sita ji and return the illusory form (which Ravan had abducted), back to the Fire God.
प्रभु के वचन सुनकर रीछ-वानर हर्षित हो गए। आकाश से देवताओं ने बहुत से फूल बरसाए। सीताजी (के असली स्वरूप) को पहिले अग्नि में रखा था। अब भीतर के साक्षी भगवान् उनको प्रकट करना चाहते हैं॥7॥
* तेहि कारन करुनानिधि कहे कछुक दुर्बाद।
सुनत जातुधानीं सब लागीं करै बिषाद॥108॥
For this very reason, the ocean of mercy, Shri Ram, deliberately spoke a few stern words as a divine pretext. Hearing these words of Shri Ram, all the demonesses began to lament in distress.
इसी कारण करुणा के भंडार श्री रामजी ने लीला से कुछ कड़े वचन कहे, जिन्हे सुनकर सब राक्षसियाँ विषाद करने लगीं॥108॥
* प्रभु के बचन सीस धरि सीता। बोली मन क्रम बचन पुनीता॥
लछिमन होहु धरम के नेगी। पावक प्रगट करहु तुम्ह बेगी॥1॥
Sita ji bowed respectfully to the Lord’s command, and being pure in thought, word, and deed, She said, “Lakshman, kindly assist me as the priest in this sacred rite and swiftly kindle the fire.”
प्रभु के वचनों को सिर चढ़ाकर मन, वचन और कर्म से पवित्र श्री सीताजी बोलीं- हे लक्ष्मण! तुम मेरे धर्म के नेगी (धर्माचरण में सहायक) बनो और तुरंत आग तैयार करो॥1॥
सुनि लछिमन सीता कै बानी। बिरह बिबेक धरम निति सानी॥
लोचन सजल जोरि कर दोऊ। प्रभु सन कछु कहि सकत न ओऊ॥2॥
Hearing Sita ji’s words, laden with the anguish of separation yet imbued with gentleness, righteousness, and wisdom, Lakshman ji’s eyes filled with tears. He folded his palms in reverence, but no words could come from his lips before the Lord.
श्री सीताजी की विरह, विवेक, धर्म और नीति से सनी हुई वाणी सुनकर लक्ष्मणजी के नेत्रों में (विषाद के आँसुओं का) जल भर आया। वे हाथ जोड़े खड़े रहे। वे भी प्रभु से कुछ कह नहीं सकते॥2॥
देखि राम रुख लछिमन धाए। पावक प्रगटि काठ बहु लाए॥
पावक प्रबल देखि बैदेही। हृदयँ हरष नहिं भय कछु तेही॥3॥
Reading Lord Ram’s approval in His expression, Shri Lakshman hurried forward, lit the fire, and brought ample firewood. Seeing the blazing flames, Sita ji felt joy in Her heart and was completely free of fear.
फिर श्री रामजी का रुख देखकर लक्ष्मणजी दौड़े और आग तैयार करके बहुत सी लकड़ी ले आए। अग्नि को खूब बढ़ी हुई देखकर जानकीजी के हृदय में हर्ष हुआ। उन्हें भय कुछ भी नहीं हुआ॥3॥
जौं मन बच क्रम मम उर माहीं। तजि रघुबीर आन गति नाहीं॥
तौ कृसानु सब कै गति जाना। मो कहुँ होउ श्रीखंड समाना॥4॥
As part of Her divine earthly play, Sita ji declared, “If in thought, word, and deed I have never fixed my heart on anyone except Shri Raghuveer, then may this fire, who knows the secrets of every heart, become as cool and soothing to me as sandalwood paste.”
(सीताजी ने लीला से कहा-) यदि मन, वचन और कर्म से मेरे हृदय में श्री रघुवीर को छोड़कर दूसरी गति (अन्य किसी का आश्रय) नहीं है, तो अग्निदेव जो सबके मन की गति जानते हैं, (मेरे भी मन की गति जानकर) मेरे लिए चंदन के समान शीतल हो जाएँ॥4॥
छंद- :
* श्रीखंड सम पावक प्रबेस कियो सुमिरि प्रभु मैथिली।
जय कोसलेस महेस बंदित चरन रति अति निर्मली॥
प्रतिबिंब अरु लौकिक कलंक प्रचंड पावक महुँ जरे।
प्रभु चरित काहुँ न लखे नभ सुर सिद्ध मुनि देखहिं खरे॥1॥
The Princess of Mithila, Sita ji, then entered the fire, which felt as cool to Her as sandalwood paste, having first enshrined in Her heart the sacred feet of Lord Ram, toward whom She bears the deepest and most pious devotion, and proclaiming, “Glory to the Lord of the Koshal Kingdom, whose divine feet are revered even by Lord Mahesh.” The illusory shadow form of Sita ji, along with the worldly stigma (born of her forcible confinement in Lanka), was consumed in the blazing flames. Yet the true mystery of the Lord’s divine design remained beyond understanding, and even the Demigods, realized Saints, and Sages stood gazing in wonder from the Heavens.
प्रभु श्री रामजी का स्मरण करके और जिनके चरण महादेवजी के द्वारा वंदित हैं तथा जिनमें सीताजी की अत्यंत विशुद्ध प्रीति है, उन कोसलपति की जय बोलकर जानकीजी ने चंदन के समान शीतल हुई अग्नि में प्रवेश किया। प्रतिबिम्ब (सीताजी की छायामूर्ति) और उनका लौकिक कलंक प्रचण्ड अग्नि में जल गए। प्रभु के इन चरित्रों को किसी ने नहीं जाना। देवता, सिद्ध और मुनि सब आकाश में खड़े देखते हैं॥1॥
धरि रूप पावक पानि गहि श्री सत्य श्रुति जग बिदित जो।
जिमि छीरसागर इंदिरा रामहि समर्पी आनि सो॥
सो राम बाम बिभाग राजति रुचिर अति सोभा भली।
नव नील नीरज निकट मानहुँ कनक पंकज की कली॥2॥
Then the Fire God assumed a visible form and, gently holding the hand of the true Shri Sita ji, who is praised in the Vedas and renowned throughout the world, presented Her to Shri Ram, just as the Ocean of Milk once offered Goddess Lakshmi to Lord Vishnu. Sita ji then took Her place on the left side of Shri Ram. Her beauty was supremely radiant and deeply enchanting. It appeared as though a golden lotus bud were gracing the presence of a newly blossomed blue lotus.
तब अग्नि ने शरीर धारण करके वेदों में और जगत् में प्रसिद्ध वास्तविक श्री (सीताजी) का हाथ पकड़ उन्हें श्री रामजी को वैसे ही समर्पित किया जैसे क्षीरसागर ने विष्णु भगवान् को लक्ष्मी समर्पित की थीं। वे सीताजी श्री रामचंद्रजी के वाम भाग में विराजित हुईं। उनकी उत्तम शोभा अत्यंत ही सुंदर है। मानो नए खिले हुए नीले कमल के पास सोने के कमल की कली सुशोभित हो॥2॥
* बरषहिं सुमन हरषि सुर बाजहिं गगन निसान।
गावहिं किंनर सुरबधू नाचहिं चढ़ीं बिमान॥109 क॥
The Demigods rejoiced, showering flowers from the sky as kettledrums resounded. The Kinnars (celestial beings) burst into song, and the celestial damsels danced joyfully, all assembled upon their aerial vehicles.
देवता हर्षित होकर फूल बरसाने लगे। आकाश में डंके बजने लगे। किन्नर गाने लगे। विमानों पर चढ़ी अप्सराएँ नाचने लगीं॥109 (क)॥
जनकसुता समेत प्रभु सोभा अमित अपार।
देखि भालु कपि हरषे जय रघुपति सुख सार॥109 ख॥
Seeing the boundless beauty of Lord Ram together with Janak ji’s daughter, the monkeys and bears rejoiced and proclaimed, “Glory to Shri Raghupati, the very essence of divine bliss.”
श्री जानकीजी सहित प्रभु श्री रामचंद्रजी की अपरिमित और अपार शोभा देखकर रीछ-वानर हर्षित हो गए और सुख के सार श्री रघुनाथजी की जय बोलने लगे॥109 (ख)॥
* तब रघुपति अनुसासन पाई। मातलि चलेउ चरन सिरु नाई॥
आए देव सदा स्वारथी। बचन कहहिं जनु परमारथी॥1॥
Then, having received Lord Ram’s command, Indra’s charioteer, Matali, bowed at the Lord’s feet and departed. Thereafter, the Demigods, often driven by their own interests, approached Lord Ram and spoke words as though they were sincere seekers of the highest truth.
तब श्री रघुनाथजी की आज्ञा पाकर इंद्र का सारथी मातलि चरणों में सिर नवाकर (रथ लेकर) चला गया। तदनन्तर सदा के स्वार्थी देवता आए। वे ऐसे वचन कह रहे हैं मानो बड़े परमार्थी हों॥1॥
दीन बंधु दयाल रघुराया। देव कीन्हि देवन्ह पर दाया॥
बिस्व द्रोह रत यह खल कामी। निज अघ गयउ कुमारगगामी॥2॥
They said, “O’ Friend of the suppliant, merciful Chief of the Raghus, O’ Lord, You have shown boundless compassion toward us Demigods. This wretched and lust-driven Ravan, who was always intent on harming the world and who constantly walked the path of evil, has met his end through the weight of his own sins…
हे दीनबन्धु! हे दयालु रघुराज! हे परमदेव! आपने देवताओं पर बड़ी दया की। विश्व के द्रोह में तत्पर यह दुष्ट, कामी और कुमार्ग पर चलने वाला रावण अपने ही पाप से नष्ट हो गया॥2॥
तुम्ह समरूप ब्रह्म अबिनासी। सदा एकरस सहज उदासी॥
अकल अगुन अज अनघ अनामय। अजित अमोघसक्ति करुनामय॥3॥
…You are impartial to all, the Supreme Lord, immortal and ever unchanging, naturally detached, beyond material qualities yet adorned with divine virtues, unborn, sinless, flawless, invincible, unfailing in strength, and overflowing with compassion…
आप समरूप, ब्रह्म, अविनाशी, नित्य, एकरस, स्वभाव से ही उदासीन (शत्रु-मित्र-भावरहित), अखंड, निर्गुण (मायिक गुणों से रहित), अजन्मे, निष्पाप, निर्विकार, अजेय, अमोघशक्ति (जिनकी शक्ति कभी व्यर्थ नहीं जाती) और दयामय हैं॥3॥
मीन कमठ सूकर नरहरी। बामन परसुराम बपु धरी॥
जब जब नाथ सुरन्ह दुखु पायो। नाना तनु धरि तुम्हइँ नसायो॥4॥
…It was You who assumed the divine forms of a fish, a tortoise, a boar, Shri Narsimha (half lion, half man), Vaman (dwarf Sage), and Shri Parshuram. Whenever, O’ Lord, the Demigods are afflicted by distress, You manifest an incarnation and bring an end to our suffering…
आपने ही मत्स्य, कच्छप, वराह, नृसिंह, वामन और परशुराम के शरीर धारण किए। हे नाथ! जब-जब देवताओं ने दुःख पाया, तब-तब अनेकों शरीर धारण करके आपने ही उनका दुःख नाश किया॥4॥
यह खल मलिन सदा सुरद्रोही। काम लोभ मद रत अति कोही।
अधम सिरोमनि तव पद पावा। यह हमरें मन बिसमय आवा॥5॥
…This vile Ravan, steeped in sin and ever hostile toward the Demigods, was enslaved by lust, greed, false pride, and furious anger. Yet this very crown jewel among sinners has attained the highest state by finding refuge at Your feet. Our hearts stand utterly astonished by this truth…
यह दुष्ट मलिन हृदय, देवताओं का नित्य शत्रु, काम, लोभ और मद के परायण तथा अत्यंत क्रोधी था। ऐसे अधमों के शिरोमणि ने भी आपका परम पद पा लिया। इस बात का हमारे मन में आश्चर्य हुआ॥5॥
हम देवता परम अधिकारी। स्वारथ रत प्रभु भगति बिसारी॥
भव प्रबाहँ संतत हम परे। अब प्रभु पाहि सरन अनुसरे॥6॥
…Even though we demigods are rightful recipients of the highest spiritual state, yet, absorbed in our own self-interest, we have neglected Your worship, O’ Lord, and continue to drift in the ocean of repeated birth and death. Now, O’ Lord, protect us, for we have taken refuge in You.”
हम देवता श्रेष्ठ अधिकारी होकर भी स्वार्थपरायण हो आपकी भक्ति को भुलाकर निरंतर भवसागर के प्रवाह (जन्म-मृत्यु के चक्र) में पड़े हैं। अब हे प्रभो! हम आपकी शरण में आ गए हैं, हमारी रक्षा कीजिए॥6॥

* करि बिनती सुर सिद्ध सब रहे जहँ तहँ कर जोरि॥
अति सप्रेम तन पुलकि बिधि अस्तुति करत बहोरि॥110॥
After offering their supplication, the Demigods and realized Saints stood with folded hands. Then Lord Brahma, overflowing with love and with a thrill coursing through his body, glorified Shri Ram.
विनती करके देवता और सिद्ध सब जहाँ के तहाँ हाथ जोड़े खड़े रहे। तब अत्यंत प्रेम से पुलकित शरीर होकर ब्रह्माजी स्तुति करने लगे–॥110॥

* जय राम सदा सुख धाम हरे। रघुनायक सायक चाप धरे।
भव बारन दारन सिंह प्रभो। गुन सागर नागर नाथ बिभो॥1॥

हे नित्य सुखधाम और (दु:खों को हरने वाले) हरि! हे धनुष-बाण धारण किए हुए रघुनाथजी! आपकी जय हो। हे प्रभो! आप भव (जन्म-मरण) रूपी हाथी को विदीर्ण करने के लिए सिंह के समान हैं। हे नाथ! हे सर्वव्यापक! आप गुणों के समुद्र और परम चतुर हैं॥1॥
तन काम अनेक अनूप छबी। गुन गावत सिद्ध मुनींद्र कबी॥
जसु पावन रावन नाग महा। खगनाथ जथा करि कोप गहा॥2॥

आपके शरीर की अनेकों कामदेवों के समान, परंतु अनुपम छवि है। सिद्ध, मुनीश्वर और कवि आपके गुण गाते रहते हैं। आपका यश पवित्र है। आपने रावणरूपी महासर्प को गरुड़ की तरह क्रोध करके पकड़ लिया॥2॥
जन रंजन भंजन सोक भयं। गत क्रोध सदा प्रभु बोधमयं॥
अवतार उदार अपार गुनं। महि भार बिभंजन ग्यानघनं॥3॥
…You gladden Your devotees and remove their sorrows and fears. O’ Lord, You are ever free from anger and ever established in supreme wisdom. Your human incarnation is gracious, a treasury of virtues, and the embodiment of compassion. You have descended to lighten the burden of the Earth, and You Yourself are the very form of divine knowledge…
हे प्रभो! आप सेवकों को आनंद देने वाले, शोक और भय का नाश करने वाले, सदा क्रोधरहित और नित्य ज्ञान स्वरूप हैं। आपका अवतार श्रेष्ठ, अपार दिव्य गुणों वाला, पृथ्वी का भार उतारने वाला और ज्ञान का समूह है॥3॥
अज ब्यापकमेकमनादि सदा। करुनाकर राम नमामि मुदा॥
रघुबंस बिभूषन दूषन हा। कृत भूप बिभीषन दीन रहा॥4॥
…You are ever unborn, omnipresent, one without a second, and without beginning. O’ Shri Ram, You are a boundless ocean of mercy, and I bow to You in reverence and joy. You are the crown jewel of the Raghu clan, the slayer of the demon Dushan, and the remover of every fault from the hearts of Your devotees, and it was You who established the humble Vibhishan as the rightful King of Lanka…
(किंतु अवतार लेने पर भी) आप नित्य, अजन्मा, व्यापक, एक (अद्वितीय) और अनादि हैं। हे करुणा की खान श्रीरामजी! मैं आपको बड़े ही हर्ष के साथ नमस्कार करता हूँ। हे रघुकुल के आभूषण! हे दूषण राक्षस को मारने वाले तथा समस्त दोषों को हरने वाले! विभिषण दीन था, उसे आपने (लंका का) राजा बना दिया॥4॥
गुन ध्यान निधान अमान अजं। नित राम नमामि बिभुं बिरजं॥
भुजदंड प्रचंड प्रताप बलं। खल बृंद निकंद महा कुसलं॥5॥
…I bow to You again and again, O’ Shri Ram. You are a boundless treasury of virtues and wisdom, free from all false pride, unmanifest, omnipresent, and beyond material nature. The power and glory of Your arms are unmatched, and You are supremely adept at destroying the hosts of the wicked…
हे गुण और ज्ञान के भंडार! हे मानरहित! हे अजन्मा, व्यापक और मायिक विकारों से रहित श्रीराम! मैं आपको नित्य नमस्कार करता हूँ। आपके भुजदंडों का प्रताप और बल प्रचंड है। दुष्ट समूह के नाश करने में आप परम निपुण हैं॥5॥
बिनु कारन दीन दयाल हितं। छबि धाम नमामि रमा सहितं॥
भव तारन कारन काज परं। मन संभव दारुन दोष हरं॥6॥
…You are compassionate and benevolent to the poor without cause. You are a treasury of beauty. I bow to You together with Rama (Sita ji). You enable beings to cross the ocean of worldly existence. You stand beyond cause (Nature), and effect (the manifested Universe). You dispel the dreadful sorrows that arise in the hearts of Your devotees…
हे बिना ही कारण दीनों पर दया तथा उनका हित करने वाले और शोभा के धाम! मैं श्रीजानकीजी सहित आपको नमस्कार करता हूँ। आप भवसागर से तारने वाले हैं, कारणरूपा प्रकृति और कार्यरूप जगत दोनों से परे हैं और मन से उत्पन्न होने वाले कठिन दोषों को हरने वाले हैं॥6॥
सर चाप मनोहर त्रोन धरं। जलजारुन लोचन भूपबरं॥
सुख मंदिर सुंदर श्रीरमनं। मद मार मुधा ममता समनं॥7॥
…Armed with a graceful bow, arrows, and quiver, You have eyes like red lotuses. You are the sovereign of Kings, the abode of bliss, supremely beautiful, and the beloved of Goddess Sita. You dispel false pride, worldly desire, illusion, and all attachments…
आप मनोहर बाण, धनुष और तरकस धारण करने वाले हैं। (लाल) कमल के समान रक्तवर्ण आपके नेत्र हैं। आप राजाओं में श्रेष्ठ, सुख के मंदिर, सुंदर, श्री (लक्ष्मीजी) के वल्लभ तथा मद (अहंकार), काम और झूठी ममता के नाश करने वाले हैं॥7॥
