"I bow to the lotus feet of Shri Shatrughan, whose name signifies the slayer of enemies. Despite his immense bravery, he is profoundly humble and always follows Bharat ji with utmost devotion. Next, I bow to the valiant Hanuman ji, whose unparalleled glory has been praised by Lord Ram Himself."
जासु हृदय आगार बसहिं राम सर चाप धर॥17॥
"I bow to Hanuman ji, the son of the Wind God, who is like a blazing fire consuming the forest of the wicked. He is the embodiment of wisdom and devotion, and within his heart resides Lord Ram, adorned with His bow and arrow."
सुमिरि पवनसुत पावन नामू। अपने बस करि राखे रामू॥3॥
"The devotee Dhruv sought solace in chanting Lord Hari’s name during his time of deep anguish caused by the harsh treatment of his stepmother. The immense power of the name granted him a permanent heavenly abode as the Dhruv Star (Pole Star) in the cosmos, around which all planets revolve. Similarly, by the unwavering devotion of constantly chanting Lord Ram’s name, the son of the Wind God, Hanuman ji, has the Lord ever at his disposal."
कालनेमि कलि कपट निधानू। नाम सुमति समरथ हनुमानू॥4॥
"In Kaliyug, there is no righteous action (karma), true devotion (bhakti), and sound judgement (gyan). The only thing that can support a person, is the name of Lord Ram. This age, brimming with wretchedness, is symbolized by the demon Kalnemi, a cunning impostor. In contrast, the Lord’s name is like the mighty and beautiful mind embodied by Lord Hanuman, who vanquished Kalnemi."
धरि बटु रूप देखु तैं जाई। कहेसु जानि जियँ सयन बुझाई॥2॥
"…he got extremely frightened and said to Hanuman ji, “These two men are a mine of beauty and strength. Disguise yourself as a Brahmin student, go and observe them, comprehend their intentions within your mind, and convey it to me through signs…"
बिप्र रूप धरि कपि तहँ गयऊ। माथ नाइ पूछत अस भयऊ॥3॥
"…If they have been sent by the malicious Bali, I shall at once abandon this mountain and flee.” Hanuman ji then went forth in the guise of a Brahmin, and after bowing his head in reverence, he inquired…"
पुलकित तन मुख आव न बचना। देखत रुचिर बेष कै रचना॥3॥
"Hanuman ji at once recognized the Lord and fell at Shri Ram’s feet. Lord Shiv said to Goddess Uma, “The bliss Hanuman ji experienced cannot be described in words.” Overwhelmed with devotion, Hanuman ji’s body quivered with emotion, his voice faltered, and he remained speechless, gazing intently upon the radiant form of the Lord."
मोर न्याउ मैं पूछा साईं। तुम्ह पूछहु कस नर की नाईं॥4॥
"Then, regaining his composure, Hanuman ji began to praise Lord Ram, his heart overflowing with joy at having recognized his Master. He said, “It is understandable that I questioned You, but O’ Lord, how is it that You addressed me with a question, as though You were an ordinary human?…"
तब रघुपति उठाई उर लावा। निज लोचन जल सींचि जुड़ावा॥3॥
"Uttering these words, Hanuman ji fell at the Lord’s feet, overcome with emotion. Revealing his true form as a monkey, his heart overflowed with love. Then Shri Raghupati lifted him up and embraced him, and the tears streaming from the Lord’s eyes bathed Hanuman ji in tender comfort."
समदरसी मोहि कह सब कोऊ। सेवक प्रिय अनन्य गति सोऊ॥4॥
"Then Shri Ram said, “Listen, O’ Hanuman, let there be no remorse in your heart. You are twice as dear to Me as Lakshman himself. People say that I am equal to all, but my heart delights especially in my devotees, for apart from me they have no one else to turn to…"
मैं सेवक सचराचर रूप स्वामि भगवंत॥3॥
"…And, O’ Hanuman, my true devotee is that person who remains firm in the conviction that he is the servant, and that this entire creation, both animate and inanimate, in the form of the Lord, is his Master.”"
नाथ सैल पर कपिपति रहई। सो सुग्रीव दास तव अहई॥1॥
"Upon seeing his Master pleased with him, Hanuman ji, the son of the Wind God, felt immense joy in his heart, and all his sorrows disappeared. He said, “O’ Lord, the King of the Monkeys dwells atop this mountain; his name is Sugriv, and he too is Your devoted servant…"
जब सुग्रीवँ राम कहुँ देखा। अतिसय जन्म धन्य करि लेखा॥3॥
"In this way, after narrating Sugriv’s entire story, Hanuman ji lifted both Brothers onto his back and soared away to where Sugriv was. The moment Sugriv beheld Shri Ram, he considered his own birth truly blessed."
