"इतने पर भी वह न उठा, (तब) उन्होंने जाकर उसके बाल पकड़े और लातों से मार-मारकर वे भाग चले। वह त्रिशूल लेकर दौड़ा, तब वानर भागे और वहाँ आ गए, जहाँ आगे लक्ष्मणजी खड़े थे॥2॥"

"When he still refused to rise (for standing up would have broken his sacrificial ritual) the monkeys seized him by the hair, kicked him one after another, and then scattered. Enraged, Meghnad leapt to his feet, trident in hand, and charged after them, eventually arriving at the place where Shri Ram’s younger brother, Lakshman ji, stood before his army."
