खलन्ह हृदयँ अति ताप बिसेषी। जरहिं सदा पर संपति देखी॥
जहँ कहुँ निंदा सुनहिं पराई। हरषहिं मनहुँ परी निधि पाई॥2॥

Hindi Meaning
"बदुष्टों के हृदय में बहुत अधिक संताप रहता है। वे पराई संपत्ति (सुख) देखकर सदा जलते रहते हैं। वे जहाँ कहीं दूसरे की निंदा सुन पाते हैं, वहाँ ऐसे हर्षित होते हैं मानो रास्ते में पड़ी निधि (खजाना) पा ली हो॥2॥"
English Meaning
"…The hearts of the wicked are consumed by severe anguish, for they burn with envy at the sight of others’ prosperity. Wherever they hear words of insult directed at someone else, they rejoice as though they have stumbled upon a hidden treasure…"
