Hindi Meaning
"अत्यंत गर्व के कारण वह शकुन-अपशकुन का विचार नहीं करता। हथियार हाथों से गिर रहे हैं। योद्धा रथ से गिर पड़ते हैं। घोड़े, हाथी साथ छोड़कर चिग्घाड़ते हुए भाग जाते हैं। स्यार, गीध, कौए और गदहे शब्द कर रहे हैं। बहुत अधिक कुत्ते बोल रहे हैं। उल्लू ऐसे अत्यंत भयानक शब्द कर रहे हैं, मानो काल के दूत हों। (मृत्यु का संदेसा सुना रहे हों)।"
English Meaning
"Blinded by excessive pride, Ravan ignored every omen, whether good or bad. Weapons slipped from his hands, his warriors tumbled from their chariots, and elephants and horses broke formation, shrieking as they ran. Fearsome jackals, vultures, and donkeys cried out sharply, while dogs howled in great numbers, and owls, like messengers of death, uttered their most terrifying calls."
