Hindi Meaning
English Meaning
"Seeing Goddess Parvati’s unwavering love and devotion for the name of Lord Ram, Lord Shiv was immensely pleased. In His boundless grace, He honoured Her as the finest chaste woman in the Universe and bestowed upon Her the unique position of being an inseparable part of Himself, assigning the left half of His body to Her (thus together taking the form of Ardhanarishwar), the divine union of Lord Shiv and Parvati ji. Lord Shiv, fully aware of the unparalleled power of Lord Ram’s name, consumed the deadly poison Kalkoot during the churning of the ocean. Transformed by His divine grace, the poison had the effect of nectar, earning Him the name Neelkanth (the Blue-Throated One). By bearing the poison Himself, Lord Shiv became the saviour of the cosmos, demonstrating the infinite strength drawn from Lord Ram’s name."
