"राजा व्याकुल होकर बहुत प्रकार से विलाप कर रहे हैं। वह रात युग के समान बड़ी हो गई, बीतती ही नहीं। राजा को अंधे तपस्वी (श्रवणकुमार के पिता) के शाप की याद आ गई। उन्होंने सब कथा कौसल्या को कह सुनाई॥2॥"

"The grief-stricken King lamented in many ways, and the night felt like an endless age, refusing to pass. In that moment of sorrow, the King recalled a curse once given by a blind ascetic. He recounted to Kaushalya ji the entire episode, how, during a hunting expedition, he had mistakenly killed the only son (Shravan Kumar) of a blind aged ascetic couple. (In their grief, they had cursed him, saying that he too would one day die, weeping in agony over the separation from his beloved son)."
