श्री राम-कौसल्या संवाद – Dialogue between Shri Ram and mother Kaushalya

"हे तात! यदि केवल पिताजी की ही आज्ञा, हो तो माता को (पिता से) बड़ी जानकर वन को मत जाओ, किन्तु यदि पिता-माता दोनों ने वन जाने को कहा हो, तो वन तुम्हारे लिए सैकड़ों अयोध्या के समान है॥1॥"

"…If this command has come only from Your father, then remembering that the Scriptures place a mother’s command above even that of the father, I would say, do not go to the forest. But if both Your Father and Your Mother have asked You to go, then the forest must be dearer to You than a hundred Ayodhyas; You must honour their will and proceed without hesitation…"
