"कवियों के तो झुंड हो गए, पर दुनिया में उदार (कवियों का आश्रयदाता) सुनाई नहीं पड़ता। गुण में दोष लगाने वाले बहुत हैं, पर गुणी कोई भी नहीं। कलियुग में बार-बार अकाल पड़ते हैं। अन्न के बिना सब लोग दुःखी होकर मरते हैं॥5॥"

"…Poets were found in great abundance, yet generous patrons who honoured and rewarded them were scarcely known in the world. Many were quick to find faults in the virtues of others, while possessing no virtues of their own. In Kaliyug, famines became frequent, and people perished in sorrow due to the scarcity of food grains…"
