Hindi Meaning
"तभी से जीव संसारी (जन्मने-मरने वाला) हो गया। अब न तो गाँठ छूटती है और न वह सुखी होता है। वेदों और पुराणों ने बहुत से उपाय बतलाए हैं, पर वह (ग्रंथि) छूटती नहीं वरन अधिकाधिक उलझती ही जाती है॥3॥"
English Meaning
"…From the moment the living being turned toward worldliness, it has known no true happiness, for the knot remains unloosened. Though the Vedas and the Puranas prescribe many means to untie it, the knot often grows even tighter…"
