"ज्ञान अगम (दुर्गम) है (और) उसकी प्राप्ति में अनेकों विघ्न हैं। उसका साधन कठिन है और उसमें मन के लिए कोई आधार नहीं है। बहुत कष्ट करने पर कोई उसे पा भी लेता है, तो वह भी भक्तिरहित होने से मुझको प्रिय नहीं होता॥2॥"

"…Crossing the ocean of worldly existence through the path of knowledge is extremely difficult, with many obstacles along the way. Its practices are demanding, and the heart finds no steady foundation on which to rest. Even if, after great struggle, one attains knowledge of the Supreme, one still fails to earn my love, for devotion to me is absent…"
