राम उपासक जे जग माहीं। एहि सम प्रिय तिन्ह कें कछु नाहीं॥
रघुपति कृपाँ जथामति गावा। मैं यह पावन चरित सुहावा॥2॥

Hindi Meaning
"जगत् में जो (जितने भी) रामोपासक हैं, उनको तो इस रामकथा के समान कुछ भी प्रिय नहीं है। श्री रघुनाथजी की कृपा से मैंने यह सुंदर और पवित्र करने वाला चरित्र अपनी बुद्धि के अनुसार गाया है॥2॥"
English Meaning
"…In this world, nothing is more beloved to the devotees of Shri Ram than Shri Ramcharitmanas. By the grace of Lord Raghupati, I have narrated this sacred and enchanting tale according to the utmost of my ability…"
