"ममता दाद है, ईर्षा (डाह) खुजली है, हर्ष-विषाद गले के रोगों की अधिकता है (गलगंड, कण्ठमाला या घेघा आदि रोग हैं), पराए सुख को देखकर जो जलन होती है, वही क्षयी है। दुष्टता और मन की कुटिलता ही कोढ़ है॥17॥"

Excessive elation and deep sorrow resemble a disorder of the throat, where its glands become swollen. The envy that arises on seeing another’s happiness is compared to tuberculosis, and wickedness joined with a deceitful heart is likened to leprosy…"
