"मैंने जिस प्रकार वह भव (जन्म-मृत्यु) से छुड़ाने वाली कथा सुनी, हे सुमुखी! हे सुलोचनी! वह प्रसंग सुनो। पहले तुम्हारा अवतार दक्ष के घर हुआ था। तब तुम्हारा नाम सती था॥1॥"
