"हे सर्पों के शत्रु गरुड़जी! सुनिए, मैं दीन, मलिन (उदास), दरिद्र और दुःखी होकर उज्जैन गया। कुछ काल बीतने पर कुछ संपत्ति पाकर फिर मैं वहीं भगवान् शंकर की आराधना करने लगा॥1॥"
