"लंकापति रावण को अपने बल का बहुत घमंड था। उसने देवता और गंधर्व सभी को अपने वश में कर लिया था और वह मुनि, सिद्ध, मनुष्य, पक्षी और नाग आदि सभी के हठपूर्वक (हाथ धोकर) पीछे पड़ गया था॥4॥"
