"बाण ऐसे चले मानो पंख वाले सर्प उड़ रहे हों। उन्होंने पहले सारथी और घोड़ों को मार डाला। फिर रथ को चूर-चूर करके ध्वजा और पताकाओं को गिरा दिया। तब रावण बड़े जोर से गरजा, पर भीतर से उसका बल थक गया था॥1॥"

"The arrows surged forth like winged serpents, first striking down Ravan’s charioteer and horses, then smashing his chariot to pieces and tearing away its ensign and banners, and though Ravan roared aloud with great fury, inwardly his strength was already exhausted."
