"After decorating the arti trays in many ways and adorning them with articles of good omen (a ghee lamp, a mix of turmeric and saffron powder called kumkum, blades of Durva grass, vermilion (sindoor), unbroken rice, holy water, sweets, fruits, fresh flowers, incense sticks, camphor, coconut, betel leaves etc), beautiful women who possessed the charming gait of elephants, proceeded joyfully to perform the ceremony of waving arti around the bridegroom."
