"चतुरंगिणी सेना सुंदर समिधाएँ (यज्ञ में जलाई जाने वाली लकड़ियाँ) हैं। बड़े-बड़े राजा उसमें आकर बलि के पशु हुए हैं, जिनको मैंने इसी फरसे से काटकर बलि दिया है। ऐसे करोड़ों जपयुक्त रणयज्ञ मैंने किए हैं (अर्थात जैसे मंत्रोच्चारण पूर्वक ‘स्वाहा’ शब्द के साथ आहुति दी जाती है, उसी प्रकार मैंने पुकार-पुकार कर राजाओं की बलि दी है)॥2॥"

"…The fourfold army (comprising of horses, elephants, chariots, and foot soldiers) are like firewood for my sacrificial fire. And mighty kings have been the sacrificial beasts, whom I’ve hacked to pieces with this very axe and offered into the flames. I’ve performed such battle-yajnas countless times, each one accompanied by sacred chants, as I struck them down, I uttered ‘Swaha’, just as one does when making offerings into the holy fire…"
