अवध राजु सुर राजु सिहाई। दसरथ धनु सुनि धनदु लजाई॥3॥

Hindi Meaning
"गहने-कपड़े और अनेकों प्रकार के भोग-सुखों को मन, तन और वचन से तृण तोड़कर (प्रतिज्ञा करके) त्याग दिया। जिस अयोध्या के राज्य को देवराज इन्द्र सिहाते थे और (जहाँ के राजा) दशरथजी की सम्पत्ति सुनकर कुबेर भी लजा जाते थे,॥3॥"
English Meaning
"He fully renounced all ornaments, royal attire, and every trace of sensual pleasure in thought, word, and deed. Such was the splendour of Ayodhya that it could stir envy even in the heart of Indra, the Lord of Heaven, and its wealth was so resplendent that it could humble even Kuber, the God of Wealth."
