"सुमंत्र सोच से व्याकुल हैं, रास्ते पर पैर नहीं पड़ता (आगे बढ़ा नहीं जाता), (सोचते हैं-) रामजी को बुलाकर राजा क्या कहेंगे? किसी तरह हृदय में धीरज धरकर वे द्वार पर गए। सब लोग उनको मन मारे (उदास) देखकर पूछने लगे॥2॥"

"Sumantra was overwhelmed with anxiety, his heart heavy, his feet unwilling to move. He feared what the King might reveal to Shri Ram. Steadying himself with great effort, he made his way to the palace gates. But as soon as everyone saw his disturbed state, they began to question him anxiously, eager to know what had happened."
