Hindi Meaning
"राम की सौ बार सौगंध खाकर मैं स्वभाव से ही कहता हूँ कि राम की माता (कौसल्या) ने (इस विषय में) मुझसे कभी कुछ नहीं कहा। अवश्य ही मैंने तुमसे बिना पूछे यह सब किया। इसी से मेरा मनोरथ खाली गया॥1॥"
English Meaning
"…I speak to you with utmost sincerity, swearing a hundred times upon Ram, that His mother, Queen Kaushalya, never uttered a single word to me regarding this matter. It is true that I acted without consulting you, and perhaps that is why my wish has gone unfulfilled…"
