"अयोध्यानाथ की गति (दशरथजी का मरण) सुनकर जनकपुर वासी सभी लोग शोकवश बावले हो गए (सुध-बुध भूल गए)। उस समय जिन्होंने विदेह को (शोकमग्न) देखा, उनमें से किसी को ऐसा न लगा कि उनका विदेह (देहाभिमानरहित) नाम सत्य है! (क्योंकि देहभिमान से शून्य पुरुष को शोक कैसा?)॥1॥"
