Hindi Meaning
"मंथरा ने देखा कि नगर सजाया हुआ है। सुंदर मंगलमय बधावे बज रहे हैं। उसने लोगों से पूछा कि कैसा उत्सव है? (उनसे) श्री रामचन्द्रजी के राजतिलक की बात सुनते ही उसका हृदय जल उठा॥1॥"
English Meaning
"When Manthara saw the grand decorations adorning the city and heard the melodious, auspicious music echoing through the streets, she curiously asked the people, “What is the reason behind these celebrations?” Upon learning that Shri Ram was to be crowned the King, a burning fire of jealousy and anguish flared up within her heart."
